Pat,

I think that the name is Bolette, Fred Olsen ships names usually start with the letter B.

This is Bolette - she was chartered to the Manx Government in 1988 for just one month. I dont know why but I saw her in Liverpool and still have a slide of her but cant show it, dont know how.

She was chartered because of the Seamans strike with P&O at Dover. A lot of other crews stopped their ships in support. The Isle of Man SP Co tired to make sure something ran to the Island during the dispute, so they chartered a foreign flag vessel, with crew. I think the TT races were also on. In the event she was not required, but as she was already there, they used her. This would have been in May - June 1988.

It is hard to believe from the bad sign of the light smoke that this ship should be in hands of a Norwegian crew which belong to the top skillful crews in the worlds navies.
