B.P.'s 1953 Lithgows, Port Glasgow built tanker BRITISH GUARDIAN is seen passing Portishead inbound for Avonmouth exactly fifty years ago today, on 5th November 1969.
Swam over to her when our ships were both anchored in the Bitter Lakes in 1954. Coming from a ship with very cramped apprentices' accommodation we were very impressed by the spaciousness of the cabin shared by apprentices on the Guardian.
