Yes Barry, she was BI. The first of five sisters, Bulimba, Bankura, Barpeta, Bamora and Bombala built between 1959 to 1961.
Instead of the usual Champagne she was launched with a bottle of Bulimba beer, very Aussie!
These ships were a complete departure from the traditional BI build and due to the competitive tendering process the ships were built at a yard never before used by BI, the Govan Yard of Harland and wolff.
They were very modern for their time having all a/c power, hydraulic tween decks, cranes as well as derricks, fully air conditioned, all officers with ensuite and a very comprehensive bridge fit out.
Lovely ships to sail on (I was second mate on Bamora).

Thanks John. Thought I recognised the funnel but, as you say, a departure from a traditional BI ship. Still looks good.
