Bulknes

Jebsen's Bulknes of 1970 seen discharging alumina at Tiwai Wharf, Bluff. She had a mixed Australian and New Zealand crew with one side of the funnel showing a kangaroo and the other a kiwi. She was on the alumina run, generally from Gladstone, between 1978 and 1983 being managed by Shipping Corporation of New Zealand during that time. Sold in 1984 she was last reported as Zhong Hai under the Vietnamese flag and may still be afloat.

Was onboard her in 1970 at the yard in Greenock commissioning Dobbie McInnes bilge & ballast Teledep system. I think the cheif engineer was Dereck Hulse, but that may have been on the Bruness.

Loaded and discharged with shore facilities so derricks were removed for duration of charter.

Does anyone remember an engineer Murray Allan aboard the Bulkness delivering alumina to Tiwai 74/75?
