Cenred in drydock

Cenred in drydock

An interesting picture of Cenred in drydock. Her Voith props had been removed for overhaul.

You can see the nature of the C-Class' flat bottom and chine for slipway loading. The width of the hull is approx. 12m although the superstructure is 15m, hence the overhang visible!

A great series of pics Mr Brightside, do you think the 'C' class will find a buyer based on their current state?

I'm no expert, but I don't think they are in that good a shape? Original engines and props, and although very well maintained, have been worked hard for 35 years. I know that alot of steel replacement work was ongoing too, including the hull.

Maybe they would follow in the footsteps of 'Lymington' and 'Freshwater' and end up with Western Ferries? If I had the money, I'd buy two of them and run them between Portsmouth and Gosport...I'd make a fortune!

there are buyers looking at the c class at the moment, they aren't in bad condition for someone who needs a construction barge
