Built by Greenock Dockyard Co. and launched on 25/8/1961. Completed 16/1/62 for Clan Line Steamers Ltd. (Cayzer Irvine & Co. managers)Propulsion: Sulzer-Type 6 Cyl. 2 SCSA oil engine of 7,700 BHP giving a speed of 15.5 knots. May/69 transferred to King Line Ltd. 1977 transferred back to Clan Line. April/81 sold to Kingsdale International S.A. Panama and renamed Marianne. 1983 renamed Candelaria arrived 26/3/84 at Kaohsiung for breaking up.

Thanks TOMR. Lovely photo. She was my last Clan Line ship. Looking at my sight book for that voyage from Birkenhead to Port Elizabeth in January 1975, I see our best day's speed was 16.22 and the slowest 14.68, with the average being 15.45 knots.

Hi Neil, Your very welcome, she must have had tide and wind in her favour to have achieved 16.22 knots. She`s certainly appears to be nipping along in the photo. Regards Tom.
