The photo was taken at Wellington and the vessel is berthed at the Clyde Quay Wharf which was rebuilt in 1964 as the Overseas Passenger Terminal. The Clyde Quay Boat Harbour is ahead of the vessel and in the foreground is Oriental Bay.

Hi Spence,
Going by the shadow's it was taken in the morning and I guess in those days there were not that many cars about or people - most using public transport. These days the road in the foreground - Oriental Parade is very busy with traffic and in good weather there are many poeple to be seen. This area now has many luxury appartments and is one of the most expensive areas to live in.

Wow!! I didn't know of this.

Good work Zubcik88 I would also be interested in the date of this.
If we can date the current band rotunda then we have a point of ref.
Emmanuel, do you know when that was?

Hi Old Janner, judging by the shadow fall I think close to mid day.
It could be a weekend. A Sunday would make sense. Religous practice held that work ceases for one day. Sabbath or Shavat [ I'm not sure about Islamic observance.].

Up to the early 1990's I could bike through a city relatively uncluttered by cars on a weekend, esp Sunday. Since I then I would avoid he city cyling in the city centre.

regards

Martin
