The German freighter DENDERAH (4243 GRT) was completed in November 1922 by the Vulkan Werke A. G., Stettin-Bredow for the Deutsche Dampfschiffahrtsgesellschaft Kosmos, Hamburg.

Denderah was taken over by the HAPAG in 1926 like the whole Kosmos fleet. On 30 July 1929 she collided with the outbound Brazilian steamer Mandu (6588 GRT / 1913) in the narrow channel off Santos. The collision occurred at 1927 h, it was dark but weather conditions and visibility were both good. Mandu's stern cut a 18-feet deep hole into Denderah's starboard side, just forward the bridge. Denderah attempted to enter the harbour without pilot, but her captain was too little familiar with the waters off Santos, plus there was no lookout on the foreship. She sank partially before touching the bottom. Argentinian tugs GIGANTE and COLOSSO tried to refloat her but with no success which was achieved by the German salvage tug SEEFALKE, arriving later.

Denderah was raised; but due to extensive damage it was unworthy to rebuild her so the vessel had to be declared a total loss. Remained in use only as a hulk before scrapped in 1933.
