Reg, excuse my ignorance but the SALVAGEMAN and the ENGLISHMAN are they the same company? as United towing tugs used to end in Man and do they still operate now?
Hi Jim,
SMS are, I believe, the 'salvage half' of UTC and are now on the upswing on the Humber, their tugs are ( if I can remeber them all) tradesman, trueman, serviceman, englishman(not the one above) yorkshireman, norman thats all I can recall. They are painted an inconspicuous bright orange with white deck-houses - look under tugs I posted the tradesman there.
Hope this helps
Ps what sort of boat after the lottery win - I want one with a large fridge
Specialist Marine Services (SMS) was founded in 1992 by a former manager of United Towing. United Towing does not exist any longer but the -MAN names are being kept alive by it's former employee.
SMS has nothing to do with UTC it is owned by one of the ex managers of UTC. UTC have gone now thay where taken over by HOWARD SMITH and then sold to ADSTREM and have just been taken over by WISMULLERS. READ MY POSTING RE Serviceman . SAM
