Actually built at Vickers Armstrongs (Naval yard) Walker not Newcastle. I remember rushing back from school to see the launch from the other (South) bank of the Tyne

You are right about the build, but High Walker is in Newcastle 6. i should know was born and brought up on Walker Road about half a mile from the shipyard.

Thank's for that correction shipmate 17. Used to go to Walker baths on Saturdays. Caught the ferry from Hebburn, know the area fairly well. Also worked on Dart America and Dart Atlantic whilst they were under construction at the naval yard. Contracted in to fit the alarm system (Autronica) on Main engines which I seem to remember were quite lumpy Sulzers.
