CABLE ONE - Rebuilding and transfer to Danish flag of GRAMPIAN WOOD.
M/S "CABLE ONE" ex "GRAMPIAN WOOD" was purchased in May 2000 from North Star Shipping Group in Aberdeen as a stand-by / rescue vessel. The vessel was originally built as a trawler in Goole in 1976 and has been used as a trawler until 1991.
M/S "CABLE ONE" has now been rebuilt as a cable-laying and diving support vessel at Assens Shipyard A/S and was delivered in August 2001 to the owner: Jydsk Dykkerfirma ApS, Nybovej 8, 7500 Holstebro
The vessel is to be used for laying out and embedding submarine cables and pipelines. However,
as the ship is also fully equipped as an offshore diving vessel, it can carry out all kinds of diving assignments.
The conversion from stand-by vessel to cable-laying and diving support vessel was carried out
with the following main installations:
complete new accommodation for 15 persons
complete new hydraulic system with 4 pcs warping winches, A-frame winch
and aux. winch
A-frame at aft ship section for SWL 20 tons (30 tons)
extension of boat deck and deck houses
complete new deck arrangement etc. for cable-laying
cargo hold converted to cable tank
new diving compartment with decompression tank etc.
complete renewal of fire and safety equipment
complete new signal lights arrangement
renewal of generator sets, central heating system, sewage system, Marpol system, ventilation systems etc.
complete sandblasting and repainting all over
