1955, Bound for a life on a sheep station in the Falkland Islands is Gyp, a boarder collie pup, aboard the 900ton Royal Research ship John Biscoe, she had sailed from Southampton on her annual relief voyage to the bases maintained by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey, onboard were nineteen men who were to relieve others,many of whom have been in the Antarctic for two or three years, also onboard was food and stores.
