This is a little 3x2 inch snapshot of what I presume is
a fleet review before the war. Any takers on this for more info?

There are presently lots of fleet review pictures. I was wondering if anyone had
any thoughts on this one?

My only thought is this was taken back when we had a REAL navy, not the aluminium bath toys we have now.

Having said that, Jim, the centre ship in the picture did have it's
own particular design weakness!

This must be the famous pre-war Coronation (George VI) Review where the BBC made the mistake of handing a live microphone to an RN escort officer to describe the scene. They failed to realise that his gentle swaying motion was not caused by a need to offset the movement of a boat. He launched off into a rambling drunken monologue starting with "The Fleet's lit up" and they could not retrieve the mike. Great embarrassment for the pompous BBC commentator at the time but it featured in very many subsequent comedy shows.
