Foremost 22 and Tidworth

Newhaven tugs Foremost 22 and Tidworth at Newhaven's Railway Quay. This would have been summer 1960, as both tugs were awaiting disposal after the arrival of the then brand-new Meeching.

Great picture! the old loco sheds in the background too! used to work there as a fireman before going to sea. Thanks.

Meeching is right behind these two, out of shot. There are more photos in this sequence that I'll endeavour to obtain and post.

Good to see this pic,it brought back memories of happy hours as ateenager watching both these tugs at work,albeit loking a bit smarter then in the mid 50's

As a child I had the wonderful experience of traveling on the old formost while she towed the oil barge over to the ss Londres. I was sat in the engine room (courtesy of Chief H.Cotterel. great watching that tripple ex in motion. think thats what encouraged me into engine rooms later in life.
