FORT VERCHERES
Launched on 5 December 1942 by the United Shipyards Ltd., Montreal with a Dominion Engineering Works Ltd. 3-cylinder steam engine. She was bare-boat chartered to the MOWT with The Hain steamship Co Ltd appointed as managers. On 13 August 1946 she was sub-chartered to Dalhousie Steam and Motorship Co. Ltd. and delivered to Brazil.
In 1950 she was sold to Halifax Overseas Freighters Ltd. (Counties Ship Management Co. Ltd., managers) and renamed Maple Hill, as seen in this photograph.
1966 saw her sold to Diopside steamship (Panama) S.A., Panama and renamed Diopside.
In 1969 she was renamed Entan and then sold the following year to Matsuhura Maritime Co. Ltd., Japan for scrapping. She arrived at Hirao where demolition began on 2 September 1970.
