Luckily I was on vacation when this one occured. She was approaching the jetty with the forward tug line slack. They were going to swing her off the berth with the bow nearest to the berth. Pilot tried to go astern to check her speed but it was too little too late. She was taken down river and here was where the repairs where done. The time I rejoined her a few months later you could not tell she was damaged. Great job the ship repair firm did. This is one of about fifty shots, taken by one of the Captains I sailed under. As you say Jeff alot of activity.
What amazed me was how quickly the steel was sourced , shaped and cut to fit on one of the most difficult areas on a ship.
