Thanks Chaps! I was away on Friday but really would have liked to hsve photographed the bedlam at the ferry terminals and of course the car ferries waiting out of Fishbourne whilst authorities attempted to clear the roads to the pop festival.

Will be taking the kayak over to the Island some time, plan to take some images in Fishbourne Creek.

Hello Stevo! 'chaps' made me laugh Stevo, being born Androgynous, i've never been called that before (lol). i saw the bedlam from apartment window, and when they all went home on the monday, all the Blue Funnel cruising 'cats' were being used as stand by ferries. I saw 'Wight Scene', 'Ocean Scene' and 'Solent Cat' all docked at Ryde pier and even 'Spirit of Portsmouth' came over from Gosport to help. Stevo, i know i am 'johnnieIOW' here on S/N. johnnie has always been a nick name used by one of my best friends, and a few other people i know. odd really when my real name is Jojo!!!

JohnnieIOW, Jo Jo, what ever suits you. To me you are the Gosport Ferries expert whose grandad called them the marjorie door boats, meanwhile your budgies re-enact their own version of the ferry crossing!

Stevo, What a wonderful description of me!!! it is like you were asked by someone to describe me in 3 words, or sentences!!! (ha ha). Nice of you to mention my Grandad, nice of you to remember that i had spoken of him, I was about 4 years old when 'Vita', 'Vesta' and 'Ferry Queen' were running mates with the 6 year old 'Portsmouth Queen' & 'Gosport Queen'. The 'Marjorie Daw' nickname for the 'Vita' etc came from the pitching they did in rough weather, it was like a see saw motion and being 4 years old i sung ''Sea Saw, Marjorie Daw'' standing with Grandad right up on the bow. (by the 70's he had retired from the Gosport Ferry as Captain). after singing the Nursery Rythme a few times, i use to say ''There's the Marjorie Daw boats grandad''. the nick name stuck. (never had a nick name for the Queen's though). As for our budgie, she is very grown up now, still loves her 12 x12 play mat and 60 budgie toys and climbing frames. She still loves playing with her ferry boats, she has a captain on each one, (it's a penguin on wheels), mind you i think mutiny is often the name of the game, because she picks up the penguin on wheels and throws it off the ferry, then tips the ferry up on it's side!!!! funny thing is her favourite film, which she will react to and watch whilst she is playing is 'The African Queen' DVD !!! and i'm not joking or pulling your leg. and she is mad on watching Davros and the Daleks DVD'S (from Dr.Who) and loves the 1970's soap 'Crossroads' DVD'S, aren't we lucky to have a bird that does more than go cheap cheap cheap!!! and she thinks nothing of saying things like ''i am a pretty, pretty, beautiful, gorgeous special girl''. (no false modesty there).
