After the war a new generation of GULLFOSS was built, the passenger shipping line between Iceland to the port of Copenhagen, for EIMSKIP, the former state owned (I think nowadays privatised?) shipping company. Nowadays, to most passengers relief, the line from and to Iceland to rest of Scandinavia/Nordic mainland is replaced by airlines - the crossing on the North Sea and northern Atlantic to and from Iceland was often rough -and long.
