Court Line had negotiated a fifteen year charter package, commencing Spring 1971, with Newfoundland Oil, an independent oil group at the time building North America’s first terminal for tankers over 200,000 tons at Come By Chance, Newfoundland. To complete the deal in time Court Line for around £7.5 million, purchased a 226,000 ton tanker already on order at Gotaverken’s Arendal yard in Sweden to be named HALCYON THE GREAT.

1978: Used as a storage facility at Teluk Semangka.
1983: Laid up at Busan.
