Great shot threebs as usual.
River Class Frigates K519 HMCS LaSalle Commisioned 29th June1944, K244 HMCS Charlotte commisioned 28th April 1944 and K419 HMCS Kokanee commisioned 6th June 1944.

K244 HMCS Charlotte was the second ship named that the first being a corvette which was sunk by torpedo earlier in the war.

K419 HMCS Kokanee will have been seen by many of us who went to sea and visited the Hooghly river on our way up to Calcutta up until the year 1965 as she was sold to India after the war and became the Hooghly Pilot Vessel "Bengal".

Yes thanks 'barnsey' for all the info.

I have said before and will say again, "Every picture tells a story", there are millions of photos out there.

Some may call us obsessive/pedantic or whatever, but to me one of the many great features of this site is the combined experience and knowledge to produce identities of ships and dates in historical photos, even in the distance, from even the smallest of clues that are there in the photo. "Ship Nostalgia" at it's best

Thanks threebs

Regards (Gleam)

I'll third the above.

Casting my mind back to my regular visits to Halifax, in the '50s and '60s, I remember extremely well Christmas '63 when was alongside and my Christmas dinner was at the house of the then 'No 1 man' at, I think, Victoria Hospital? His daughter and I had got on rather well at our ship's Christmas party, thus the invite. Is that the building top right hand corner of the above picture?
