Have to smile at the title of this picture. I do know from very personal experience however that one word in same is somewhat appropriate.
A photo with very strong expressiveness.
Historically very valuable.
In my opinion it shows the landing of vegetables and fruit from the "Marsch und Vierlanden", with own original ships at the Vorsetzen- Baumwall in Hamburg for the market of the Hamburg population.
Thanks Gijsha for this presentation.
I wonder if this photo is known in Hamburg?
You should ask.
Regards Jan
Who is to be contacted there Jan? Hafenmuseum vielleicht? But you can view some 20 photos yourselves, go to https://felixarchief.antwerpen.be and enter "Hamburg 1899" in the search field. Wonderful stuff! Hamburg was my home town from 1971 till 1986.
A very interesting photo indeed, lots of details. A lot of ladies, who are not particularly dressed for the occasion, and the yokes for carrying things are fascinating. I didn't see what they were at first!

Thanks Gijsha, this link is the gift for Hamburg historians. I am thrilled and will check with the responsible authorities if these photos are known. Thanks again.
