Woomera was a wood construction ammunition ship and at the time she had been dumping old ammunition to seaward of Sydney when there was a small explosion followed by the fire, two men of her crew of 27 died in the explosion, another ship involved in the rescue was HMAS Quickmatch - photodate is 11th October 1960
Have altered the title to HMAS Woomera as she was an RAN ship of some 600 tons 125' long
