Berthed at Customshouse Quay,Greenock in the mid 1960,s.This was a common berth for RN ships prior to the massive expansion of Faslane.

Thanks Stevo,took it when I was about 14 and my first colour film.I may have another image looking towards the bow.
The Darings and the Battles were my favourites

Also noticeable that for such a thing to happen today would necessitate 24 hour security on the quay around the vessel, barriers to be erected as well as mounted machine guns and numerous armed sentries onboard patrolling the decks. You certainly wouldn't be able to stop for a breather on a bollard, as the lady is in this picture!
All in the name of 'progress' of course.

Teaboy, that is a smashing photograph - the colour and clarity is superb. At first thought it was a painting by a talented artist. Looks like one of '2 a Fat' coming along in the background. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your comments.Staffs-did,nt become a Killick(phot) don,t even have a camera now,would have come in handy an hour ago.HMS Sutherland,Ambush or Astute and a USN Virginia class all passed one another in the Firth of Clyde.
