Nick. I don't think they are aimed at anything in particular. Sometimes HM ships aimed their
guns outboard to avoid the gunline wrapping round the barrels.
But nowadays the HM ship fires to the RFA on the assumption that she has less vulnerable
bits to break
But as it is only a plastic projectile I don't suppose it could do much damage.
