What an excellent photo, are they getting ready to enter port , men look as though they are about to man the side and it also looks like they are attaching a flag to to the jack
Its a great picture, taken in Weymouth Bay so she was probably heading into Portland. This one, or one taken a split second either way has appeared in a few books over the years, so possibly taken by the RN Photographic Unit.

Minerva has featured in some fantastic photos over the years, a few also involving her Lynx. I only have a small copy of this particular picture but it does not carry the usual naval photographic unit stamp on the rear, so unsure of it's origins.
Along with the County class, the Leanders must go down as best looking naval vessels of recent years.
here here macca, both excellant sea keeping vessels, minerva was one of the early trials ships for lynx deck landing trials, intersting pic prob as one or two say a pr shot by the fpgu.......... when it was decided that the type 23 was to have merlin...... they had to all have the height of their hangars enlarged as merlin was too big to get in the hangar, the trials ship iron duke for merlin, they had to deflate the tyres to get the cab in the hangar, much the same as the new french carriers flight deck had to be extended as it was too short to accomodate the rafael
