Superb set of photos Torrens, what memories!! Vittoriosa Wharf was home to the 7th Minesweeping Sqdn in the mid to late '60s (Walkerton,Stubbington,Crofton, Ashton,Leverton and Shavington), after they moved round from Msida Creek. RFA Sea Salvor was our support vessel and Layburn was also locally based, and we all proudly displayed the red and white cross of St John on our funnels. We always got well looked after (too well at times!!!) in Joey,s Bar, just out of the gate, and the Coronation also rings a bell. Many Thanks Torrens,
Regards Ken H.
KH, Stubbington, Shavington and others belonged to the 108th MS around 1960.

Do you know when they became the 7th?
Lancastrian, Just referring to a back number of TONTALK (Ton Class Assn magazine), Ashton, my old ship, transferred on 1st OCT '62. So I suppose that was the changeover date. The Squadron left Malta on 31st MAR '69 and paid off to reserve in Gib, however, most saw quite a lot of further service.
