Thanks for this set of Icenic, Stephen (Applause)

I only sailed in Ionic & Illyric, but they sure bring back some memories (Thumb)

Areal set of nostalgic shots for me as I was chief offeicer during 1963 & 64 with Captain J.L. Stobbs. Many happy memories of those days.

Joseph,

She must have been quite a ship when she was new. When I joined her in '77 she was gettin on a bit. It was an eye opener for me... I had just left a new modern reefer (LOCH LOMOND). I only did five months in ICENIC but she does hold a special place for me.

Wood sheathing on a cargo deck?
Looks like a Stevie Clarke's off the starboard bow.

Teak over all decks except for nos 1 & 6.
1&6 were dry cargo, 2,3, 4 & 5 were the reefer holds.

Thank you for these. I only sailed on Illyric, back in the black hull days, but these really bring back memories.

Still looking smart despite the fact it was just a few years before the demise of the company and it's entire fleet. Must have been a tough time on those that had served their time with SSA, or had hoped to sail as Master or Chief Engineer. Even more amazing to think that those that switched to the "The ships and company of the future" - OCL and ACT in the seventies were have such a short working life!
