Both ex shetland boats. The guiding star use to be in skerries, Tamar 24. my cousins kevin and steven hughson used to own her. Neil Smith rom cunningsburgh that has the Breadwinner used to have the Crystal sea.

bonny boat shame she left shetland also a shame they've cut the bulwarks out the starboard side for shooting creels.

She was always a bonnie well kept boat when Neil had her. He shot creels in her many a time below our house.

she was built as the Viora LK140 Jim Johnston muckle roe 1972. Jim made the nossle and later decked her in with aft wheelhouse. he also made a trawl winch and worked two scallop dredges.

Who owns those boats? Have they been in Westray long? Was the Guiding Star not at Scapa?

Craig..... The owner of the Crystal Sea is Jock Kent who also has the Kingfisher SY56. She will have been in Westray now for about a year. Not sure who owns the other boat, She was sitting outside the Rapness Mance on wheels when were home in april/may. Not sure who lives there now.

Cheers Cliffy. I did't know that Jock had that boat, looks like a mini version of the Kingfisher....
I think maybe Hugie Morton had the Guiding Star at Scapa but not sure, think the boat he had was painted red, but could be the same one.

Hi Craig, It was me that had the Guiding star,bought her from the Hughson boys in Skerries late 2003.sold her to a mr Jeffreys in Westray in October 2006.painted her blue a few months before i sold her.
