Yes Donald no trawl winch on the Budding Rose so Bertie is using the seine ropes and winch to trawl with. Looks like Bertie's put on a couple of coil of older ropes probably marked them every 25fm too to save his proper ropes for the seine net when he comes back east
I think they will have the seine net "thweeps" ( don't know what else the short ropes for getting the ends of the ropes back onto the drums are supposed to be called lol ) set up onto the winch and when the gears shot ( possibly got links every 50fm not sure ) and onto the towing chain they will pull off the rope until they get to a link before re-running the ropes or pulling off the spare "thweep" and re-connecting the ropes through the winch
