Thanks for the comment Geordie Chief, but that afternoon was a bit more than an hour by the time we'd towed the others back !
We had a very enjoyable stay in Port Louis I can tell you - parties at the Senior Rates Mess up at HMS Mauritius, parties on board with them, a day's "fishing", and plenty of other "extra curricular activities" !

There were some remarkable voyages carried out in the old clinker built lifeboat's during W.W.2 and certainly some of the old ex Wartime served Skipper's I knew made sure Engineer's could handle them as well (evolutions), fortunatly I had sailed a Montague in a "previous life" which was of some help. I was a bit suprised at some of the adverse comments made on one of the forums where a Commodore/Captain Allan Davies had decided to Drill/ launch the Lifeboats in an Atlantic swell, to me he seems like a Chap who has experienced a "proper" sinking rather than the more favoured Drill's we all prefered of a quiet anchorage and a tootal about. My own view was that the critisism was not warranted and he was being realistic about Lifeboat Drill.
