Yes this is a modern cruise ship. Lili Marleen, delivered by Elsflether Werft in 1994 to Deilmann for a German niche market for sail assisted cruises. After delivering this ship the shipyard closed. Lili Marleen seems to spend a lot of her time laid-up. That could be why they no longer build cruise ships that look the way they did in the past.

Hello Fred, when you compare the Lili Marleen or similar ships with the so called "modern" cruise ships, there would only be one choice for me and that is the Lili Marleen.

Unfortunately Frank you are in a minority. She can only take 50 passengers and the owners cannot find enough of them prepared to pay the cost of operating her.

Shouldn't it be Lili Marlene or did the ship owner get it wrong. Or even worse is the slight change German PC?

I am sorry that I missed your post back in August. I have double checked and I have the correct spelling. Sadly Deilmann seem to have sold this ship and she has departed to the Far East.
The German company Holiday Kreuzfahrten, acquired the old Cunard Countess and placed her in service this year as Lili Marleen. They became bankrupt at the end of the summer season.
Enter Lili Marleen in Google and you get the words of the song. Perhaps one of our German speaking members will tell us that it has always been that way.

Thanks for the update on the vessels.
It would seem that you can spell it any way you like now. Most Google hits have Lili Marleen in the title and then go on about Lili Marlene in the text. Very strange.
