Taken in April 1964 from the rear of Cunard Building looking south east.
The red and white building was once the headquarters of the White Star Line (Joseph Bruce Ismay's office is said to have been on the lower floor of the rh turret).
To the right of this is the Mersey Mission to Seamen.
The building under construction is Mersey House on which the evening sun has cast the shadow of George's dock ventilation shaft.
At a height of 16ft above the car park once ran the Liverpool Overhead Railway serving the docks and which, from this point, stretched 4 miles north and 2.5 miles south.
