Is that the Jim Tout that caught all the cod 20 miles off Lossie that they named the rough peak ground after him Jack.

I was probably aboard the Atlantis at this time Jack. I left when the Golden Splendour was launched in 1973.

No Robbie, Jimmy's peak is named after Jim Scotts father auld Jimmy, but Tout was a good fisherman as well and we always had good stuff. Not a lot of small fish with Tout.

Here's one for you boys. "Auld Jimmy Scott was standing on the pier at Lossie when old Charley "Spurgeon" Gordon comes over for a yarn. Where have you been fishing at then Jimmy says Charley?. Across the Firth says Jimmy, do you know the Soutars of Cromarty?, know them says Charley!!, I went to school with them".

We were laughing for days at that one.

Hi George. you probably was aboard there when that photo was taken the three council houses you see at the shore my folk lived in the one furthest to the left and the house on the top of the hill is Davie McBains (Golden Emblem) just being built.i dont know if that is old old Charley you are on about George but i sailed with young Charley aboard the Speedwell with Sye Gairn.

Aye it was old Charley I was meaning Jack. He never went to sea himself he was a farmer I believe. But both young Charley and Ronnie went to sea and he always used to come down the harbour for any news of his loons.

I remember me and Zook speaking to him the day the Americans landed a man on the Moon and there was just no way he would believe it. He was spouting verses from the Bible about God saying man couldn't leave the Earth. finally he picked up a stone, threw it into the air and when it landed again said that is what would happen to a spaceship if it tried to leave the Earth. He said the Americans had set the whole thing up in Hollywood and there was just no way we could convince him otherwise.

Hi Jim, The Cruamer ran from the Post Office down to the Bank, its Inver Terrace my folk lived in and George mckays house was at the top of Inver Terrace just above the little house on the shore where Murdo and Lena Sutherland stayed, the brother and sister of Duncan, who lived on the Cruamer. He was some man Duncan Jim, I sailed with him for a couple of weeks on the Valhalla when he was short crew.I thought this photo might have been some interest to yourself and your Mum & Dad.
