The Logos was the first ship of mission organization Operation Mobilization.
The ship was built in Helsingør in 1949 under the name Umanak with the aim of improving the shipping connection between Denmark and Greenland after the Second World War. In 1970 the ship was purchased by Operation Mobilization and renamed Logos, the Greek translation of word. In this case, this meant the Bible as the Word of God. The ship was owned by Educational Book Exhibits Ltd. (EBE) and arranged as a sailing bookstore. The Logos ran 250 ports in 102 countries in 17 years. More than 7 million people visited the ship.
On 4 January 1988 the Logos left the port of Ushuaia on Tierra del Fuego (Argentina). A few hours after departure, the ship ran aground in the Beagle Channel. No one was injured, but the ship was to be considered lost. The ship has never completely disappeared under water. The wreck is still visible.
Later that year, the organization bought the ship Antonio Lazaro and baptized it into Logos II.
