Nice place for a holiday I guess, I have seen a few pictures of the district on television and it looks fantastic.
Isn't there a large warship in his Garden too? Where did he get his money? - Being a poet is not considered very remunerative...

This is an Orlando type A 12 tonne motor boat, one of twelve such boats designed and built between 1917 and 1918 by the Italian Naval engineer Luigi Orlando at the Livorno shipyard he and his brothers bought and renamed the Orlando Brothers Shipyard which built many other famous Italian ships.
MAS 96 was based at Lake Garda and was a gift to Gabriele d'Annunzio ( no idea why).
L 16.1 B 2.8 Draft 1.3 mts Disp 11.5 tonnes as a gun boat and 12.5 tonnes as an MGB.
Machinery : twin screws, two Isotta Fraschini V12 500 bhp petrol engines giving a speed of 29-30 knots, in stealth mode they could be powered from batteries by a pair of 10 HP electric motors for 4 knots to position themselves for a surprise attack.
Armament : MTB - a pair of 450mm torpedoes and two or three 6.5mm machines guns plus four depth charges.
and an MGB - a single 47mm cannon and one 6.5mm machine gun plus two depth charges
Crew eight men
