renamed Maksim Gorkiy or Maksim Gorkij

2009 broken up Alang arrived 20/2/2009

Chris, I used to like seeing the vessel. Even have a model of her. One year she even put in an appearance at my birthday bash. (she just happened to sail by!) She did have a few problems in Norwegian/Northern waters. I note your final comments so will be interested to see any follow ups.

We did a short cruise on her out of New York in the 1970's brfore the big dust-up between our two countries and she was banished to the Canadian run... A most uncomfortable time on board her. Poor service and mediocre food - but a jolly crew and staff helped. Shame she's gone like so many before her.

She built and completed as HAMBURG, renaming to HANSEATIC only took place in 1973.

You can see some shot of her in heavy weather North Sea i 1987 when i am onboard for a cruise to Spitzbergn Is.
