Another fine photograph, Turf. Very good to see these handsome cruise-ships in Oban Bay. Makes you realise what style was all about, before the 'Monstrosity of the Seas', the 'Nightmare of the Seas' etc. came on the unfortunate scene. Mercifully, they are too large to desecrate Oban Bay! All the best, Donald.

The limit seems to be about 25,000gt to get into the bay. Nothing came in for some time after construction of the second link-span (CalMac may not have been happy with ships getting in the way of an easy berthing) but this year has been good for the smaller ships visiting (except Serenissima) so I'm hopeful for 2014.

Quite interesting that this once ontended Soviet scientific ship OKEAN finally ended up as a very nicely rebuilt cruise ship (as also the larger SEVEN SEAS NAVIGATOR, the former intended space- and satellite monitor ship AKADEMIK NIKOLAJ PILJUGIN).
