The date of this photograph is certainly much later than 1930. The sub tender appears to be USS Pelias (AS-14), which was converted from the cargo ship SS Mormacyork during 1941. She was present during the attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941. Laid up in 1947, USS Pelias was finally scrapped during 1973. In addition, the submarines are all Balao-class submarines, built during WW-II. The submarine with the unusual shark's mouth painted on her bows is undoubtedly USS Baya (SS-318), which was commissioned in May 1944 (see below). USS Baya completed five war patrols in the Far East before returning to San Francisco in September 1945.
