She was originally a "fjordsteamer", named Nordfjord 1, runnning in the fjords north of Bergen with Bergen being her homeport. She was built for Fylkesbaatane i Sogn og Fjordane, the company is now called Fjord 1 and the company concentrates now on ferry operation in Norway and high speed passenger transport.
