Office Flag ALIANCA
The office flag of the shipping company consists of three horizontal stripes in black, white and red (from top to bottom), which remind of Fischer's German origin. On the white stripe are two yellow rings lying side by side and interlocking, representing the two hemispheres connected by the shipping company. Until 1993 there was a black "A" in the middle of the rings, since 1993 a blue stylized "A", which stands for the shipowner's name.

This ship is named after a small coastal resort in Lower Saxony where I once spent a pleasant weekend while working in the Thyssen Nordseewerk yard in nearby Emden. Most of the little hamlets on the coast in this area have names ending in Siel, which is the name for the locks at the sea end of a stream emptying into the sea.
