Changed days eh? Was that taken from North Shields? And for some reason I have an inkling thats HMS Amethyst in the photo.

This is an excellent view from North Shields near the fish quay looking over to South Shields & Brighams docks, you can still see the old Tyne Brand (Fray Bentos) factory on the right, I think its still there, the middle tug below the warship is one of the ex US navy tugs bought after the war, I think (but I am probably wrong) that the twin funnelled tug could be the Imperator.

A lovely photograph I wonder if anyone can confirm if it is HMS Amethyst in the centre? The date would match up certainly.

I would offer that this was a Castle class frigate in centre, Amethyst had a square transom and was a Black Swan frigate ex-sloop, much bigger

Thanks Jim, it was just that the Amethyst has a special place in my heart, but I am grateful for your help in guiding me away from jumping to the wrong conclusion. I wonder which frigate it is?
