Panama flag pass/cargo liner NORTH KING, imo 2222653/ 119m/ 4.608tb/ 11kn/ pax ??; 06/1903 completed by Bremer Vulkan, Vegesack, as cargo ship LIEBENFELS for DDG Hansa, Bremen; 01/08/1914 she take refuge and was interned at Charleston, SC, due to the outbreak of the WW1, in order to avoid being attacked and sunk by the enemy; 02/1/1917 with the entry of the U.S. in the conflict, she was immediately seized by the Navy after scuttled and sunk by the German crew; 20/03/1917 she was refloated and meanwhile repaired; 06/04/1917 she was converted into naval transport and renamed USS HOUSTON (AK-1) and handed over to the U.S. Department of the Navy , Washington, DC; 23/03/1922 decommissioned; 27/09/1922NORTH KING, Alaska Portland Packers Association, Portland, OR, mgrs Frank M.
