Hi,
Tend to agree with you, all the time I was a passenger on the Rangitoto and Rangitata I dont recall any curries on the menu, one I do remember was sheeps brains, which my dad had for breakfast,I could not face breakfast for several days after watching him eat it.
cheers.
I think that it is just a joke. I can't remember anything like this and we wouldn't have eaten it. Too risky, as the ingredients listed were probably the imagination of the Chief Steward.
Curry for breakfast was normal on the Australian coast until fairly recently...normally curried mince but bonzer tucker on toast with a poached egg on top.
When I first came across it I thought it very strange but then I visited the Launceston museum and came across a passenger menu from the Rotomahana dated about 1900.........curry for breakfast for them too.
Curious choice for the normally fiery vindaloo. I've never tasted any vinegar in vindaloo, sometimes I couldn't taste anything after a meal with vindaloo.
Vindaloo is a curry dish whose main ingredients are vin (from vinegar) and aloo which comes from alho which is the Portuguese for garlic. It is a traditional Goanese dish usually made with pork and chillies which the Portuguese introduced to India.
