Interesting and rarely known fact was how and why the Patris was loading NZ LAMB in an Australian port.
The Chandris Line were trying to develop the export of mutton from New Zealand to Egypt and Greece and on a number of occasions their cargo vessel " Dona Gisella" loaded frozen meat on the New Zealand coast for the Med ports.
On one occasion in 1961 she transhipped her refrigerated cargo to the Patris at Melbourne but this was a one only trial shipment and was never repeated.
