Not sure about MARAD. Is it anything to do with Military Sealift Command. I thought this vessel was used to transport U.S. military equipment sometimes. MSC have a fleet of ships like this.

Morning to you all. MARAD - Maritime Administration - thats it.
A department of US Dept of Transportation which coordinates Naval and Military movement of supplies and becomes a naval auxiliary in times of war. This according to one of their web sites.

I saw a couple of similar MSC vessels some years ago in Weymouth Bay, SGT.Matej Kocak and PFC. Eugene A.Obregon. They appeared one evening and stayed for a few days, they looked massive. They were the largest vessels I had ever seen at Weymouth/Portland at the time, I'm sure much larger ships have visited since . More recently the smaller 2nd LT.John P bobo was anchored in the bay. Seems they are regular visitors to the UK.
