Swedish cargo ship PLATO grounded on the South Pier of IJmuiden. Due to a heavy storm pilot services were interrupted and the master then decided to enter the harbour at his own risk. She came from Antwerp in ballast in order to load cokes in Amsterdam destined for Sweden. The ship could be towed from the pier and showed only minor damage.
