So which ship are they on? They look like the ones fitted to QE2 once upon a time.

Definitely this is QE2... with the 'grimm wheels' attached to the main propellers.

Must of the vanes were damaged on trials (1987) and where later cut off.

It did work.... gave extra boost for speed... but the vanes were too light.

Certainly the Grim'sche Leitrad vane wheels fitted on QE2. They had proven to offer significant fuel savings when applied to single-screw cargo and container ships but when tried on the QE2 they disintegrated when she went up to full trial speed.
However, they were certainly NOT the world's largest propellers

RE: "...However, they were certainly NOT the world's largest propellers"

That was going to be my follow-up comment if these were identified as QE's props.

I believe the largest cargo ships are on the large Maersk box boats. The largest... is on a tanker.

Possibly the propellers on QE2 are still the largest on a 'passenger ships'.

A little research reveals some consensus around the Maersk triple-E class as having the largest props of all ships, but research on props on passenger ships yields several on passenger ships that are larger in diameter and more massive by weight than those on QE2, so the original poster's info is simply incorrect.
