I FELT THAT THIS VESSEL DESERVED A PLACE IN THIS CATEGORY AS SHE DID PLAY A BIG PART AT PORTLAND. SHE IS USUALLY FOUND IN MANY PICTURES ENVOLVING PORTLAND HARBOUR. RDV CRYSTAL REPLACED THREE AGEING STATIC VESSELS ALL ATTACHED TO THE AUWE. SHE WAS SERVED ON A DAILY BASIS BY VARIOUS RMAS CRAFT, PASSENGER CARRYING/ STORES/WATER/FUEL etc.
After her being a permanent fixture for years I got a shock one day when I looked out of my window and there was an empty space along the breakwater! I think she had gone to Devonport for a refit. You can find her easily on Google Earth in her current role.
I have been trying to obtain pictures of Her predecessors but with no joy. They were the Duchess of Argyle, John Farley and Broadwey. I do however have pictures of the first two but only in their original roles.
