The black streak from the emerg genny exhaust has now been cured. Anyone know how?

It was No.4 genny if I recall and it was put down the ER a few years back when the generators were upgraded. The other black hole is the exhaust from the incinerator which made for rather unpleasant smells in the accommodation. All now removed. Looking at my records I was 1/O in ARGUS when this shot was taken; the CO was Ricky Johnson.

Shaun,

Did you ever come across a Tony Sherlock during your time on Argus?

Sailed with Tony quite a few times during my career inc the above appointment in ARGUS. He is now retired and playing golf in Devon no doubt.

I stood-by the refit in Neptune Yard on the Tyne when the genny was moved into the engine room. If I remember correctly the space fwd vacated by the genny was filled with an osmosis plant. It saved all that work each time in port, getting a cherry picker to scrub and paint the stain.

Shaun & Lancastrian,
Thanks for that guys and I'm glad to hear Tony is still with us. We had hours of fun in H&W in Tony's company especially on the golf course with the exploding golf balls. (Jester) One incident in particular comes to mind, Tony was always on about having a cabin with a sea view and a large window, which was exactly what we gave him. A large window with a splendid view of the sea.(Thumb) Only thing was it was a picture stuck behind a spare window which we left propped up on his bunk. He was not a happy teddy but soon saw the funny side..........I think.(Jester)
