Scary Take Off

Looking at TJ's posts of early carriers I thought this image of an early take off from what appears to be the hangar deck of such a ship was appropriate. No idea of which ship unfortunately.

This Fairey Flycatcher fighter is taking off forward from the hanger deck, below the level of the flight deck, the bottom edge of which can just be seen at the top of the photo. HMS Courageous, Glorious and Furious were designed to be able to launch aircraft in this manner. However, the Fairey Flycatcher was the last FAA aircraft that was actually able to take off this way, and they were declared obsolete in 1935.
